Name: Sinan Surucu (also written Sinan Sürücü) Role: Software Engineering Manager Location: Dublin, Ireland Status: Building toward a founder role — talking to founders and domain experts, looking for the right problem to commit to. --- ## Home I build engineering teams and the systems they run on. Currently leading a distributed team at MongoDB; before that, shipping consumer commerce at Riot Games and building AI, IoT, and emerging tech products at Accenture's Innovation Centre in Dublin. I'm figuring out what to build next: talking to founders and domain experts, looking for the right problem to commit to. ### About I've been a builder my whole career, from writing code in private banks in Istanbul, to co-founding Shoop (a retail analytics startup) with university friends, to leading the engineering execution for Riot's Web Store in Dublin. The focus has always been the same: take something ambiguous and make it work. I work across people, product, and systems: I can talk to a CEO and a backend engineer in the same afternoon. I've hired and let people go, shipped under pressure, and learned more from the things that didn't work than the ones that did. If you're working on something hard, or on a big problem most people overlook, I'd like to hear from you. ### What I'm looking for The right problem to commit to as a founder or founding engineer. Specifically, I want to hear from: - Founders who need someone to own engineering execution on an early-stage idea. - Domain experts deep in a hard or overlooked field who want a builder to partner with. - Investors and operators working near those problems. - Teams hiring for senior engineering leadership where the problem is genuinely hard. --- ## Work Not a CV. Four places where I learned the most. ### MongoDB — Software Engineering Manager (2024 – present) Lead engineering for two products in MongoDB's Customer Organisation: an internal tooling platform serving around 2,500 users, and the external support portal enterprise customers use to manage cases and system access. Redesigned incident triage protocols and built delegation frameworks now adopted by partner teams. ### Riot Games — Software Engineering Manager (2021 – 2024) Led the engineering execution for the Riot Web Store, including the payment gateway integration that enabled the first in-game asset purchases outside the game client. Managed a team of 9 across the full talent lifecycle, and shipped in a live-ops environment. ### Accenture — Technology & Engineering Manager (2016 – 2020) Led engineering delivery for a Zero-Based Cost Transformation programme, building the data ingestion and analytics platforms used to find operational inefficiencies for large enterprise clients. Acted as the technical bridge between client stakeholders and delivery teams. Based at Accenture's Innovation Centre in Dublin, also working on AI, IoT, and emerging-tech products. ### Shoop — Co-founder, Product & R&D (2014 – 2016) Co-founded a retail analytics startup in Istanbul. Built StoreFlow, a platform using WiFi/BLE signals to map real-time customer behaviour in stores and shopping malls. Won a startup competition, raised from a private investment bank, worked with major Turkish retail brands.
